Class 7

Miss R White

Welcome to Class 7 2025/26. The Class will be taught by Miss White and supported by Miss Atkinson. On a Tuesday afternoon, this class will be taught by  Mrs Hannant. There are 31 pupils in this class.

About me

Hello and a huge welcome to our Year 6 class page! I’m Miss White, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be starting my very first year in Year 6. I can’t wait for the exciting journey ahead; from unforgettable trips and our much anticipated residential, to brilliant shows and, of course, all the epic learning that will help prepare our pupils for their big step into secondary school.
Outside the classroom, I love anything pink and sparkly and have a soft spot for a leopard print outfit (or two!). I’m also a big fan of sport and am currently training for the Great North Run. My wonderful son Jude and our energetic dog Reggie keep me busy at the weekends – along with planning my upcoming wedding!
I’m so looking forward to all the fun, laughter, and learning we’ll share this year. Let’s make it one to remember!

Our Year 6 Curriculum

This year in Year 6, we have an exciting and inspiring curriculum ahead, designed to spark curiosity, develop independence, and prepare us for the next big step into secondary school.

English

In English, we’ll be diving into some powerful and thought-provoking texts, including the brilliant Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Through our reading and writing, we’ll explore important themes, develop our authorial voice, and become confident, thoughtful communicators.

Maths

In Maths, we’ll build on everything we’ve learned so far; solving problems, reasoning logically, and preparing for SATs with plenty of support and encouragement along the way. In Science, we’ll explore fascinating topics and enjoy hands-on investigations that bring learning to life.

Our History curriculum takes us back in time as we learn all about World War I and World War II, discovering their impact both globally and locally. We’ll also explore the rich heritage of our area with a focus on the Consett Steel Works, a topic close to our community’s heart.
There’s so much to look forward to in our Computing curriculum, where the children will create videos, presentations, digital music and more. It’s going to be an exciting year of creativity and innovation using technology!
We’ll also enjoy a full and varied foundation curriculum:
  • Geography:  exploring our world and the people in it.
  • Art & DT: getting creative with imaginative and practical projects.
  • RE & PSHE: learning about beliefs, values, emotions, and wellbeing.
  • PE: staying active, working as a team, and representing our school with pride in inter-school sports competitions, which I can’t wait for!
And of course, one of the best parts of Year 6 is our amazing learning beyond the classroom- with exciting trips, a memorable residential, and special projects and performances that make this year truly unforgettable.
We’re all set for a fun, busy, and brilliant final year of primary school!
