Welcome to Class 1 2025/26. The Class Teacher is Mr Moore and there are 19 pupils in this class.
This class is supported by Mrs Carr. Miss Oselton will be teaching the children R.E and Art on a Wednesday afternoon.
Mr M Moore
About me
My name is Mr Moore and this will be my thirteenth-year teaching at Consett Junior School, my first teaching in Year 3, but have also spent time teaching across the school.
I have really enjoyed working at Consett Junior School, we place a massive importance in developing their knowledge, we place an equal, if not greater importance in the children having a wide range of exciting and unique experiences.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family and taking my son, Seb and dog, Ralphie, to play on the beach and in the sea, anytime of year and whatever the weather!
About Class 2
I am really looking forward spending this year with the children in the class, we have a lot of exciting topics planned for the year and they are highlighted below, we will have trips that will enhance the topics and the children understanding in them.
English
In English we will be writing poetry about the things we didn’t do in the holidays! Also, looking at the book ‘The Twits’ and finishing with some Autumn poetry. After half term we will move onto ‘Stone Age Boy’ which is lovely to read after learning about the Stone Age in our History lessons.
Maths
In Maths we will be developing our numeracy skills using the White Rose scheme. We will focus on place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. We will also start Times Tables Rockstars after the half term, which will help develop our quick recall of our multiplication and division facts.
Science
Our science topic this term is Animals including humans. We will be looking at what we need to survive and how our skeleton works. There are some fun investigations too.
PE
For the first half term the children will be taking part in Ball Skills and Fundamentals- improving their basic PE skills, then after the half term we move onto Dance and Gymnastics with a coach.
Other Subjects
History and Geography
We will be learning about the Stone Age through to the Iron age in History then after the half term we will start our topic ‘Exploring the UK’.
Music – We will be developing our singing techniques, singing like Vikings then we will be learning the songs for our Christmas show.
French – We will introduce the children to greetings, asking and saying their name, counting, colours.
RE – The children will learn about How do Hindu’s worship and how and why Advent is important to Christians.
PSHE – We will be covering the topic ‘Being me in my world’ and ‘Celebrating Difference’ which coincides with Anti-bullying week.
