About Class 2
Class 2 is all about settling into their new school and adapting to new teachers, routines and being around older children. Children in Class 2 always demonstrate resilience and kindness no matter what. I look forward to finding out each unique quality of the pupils in Class 2 and tailoring the curriculum around their needs.
I am excited to begin our reading journey which will focus on the books ‘The True Story of The Three Little Pigs’ by Jon Scieszka and ‘Stone Age Boy’ by Satoshi Kitamura. We will be using the ‘Fantastics’ (ideas for writing), ‘The Grammaristics’ (tools for writing) and ‘The Boomtastics’ (techniques for writing) to help us with our writing. Children will have their spelling lesson on a Wednesday and will be given their spellings then for their test the following Wednesday.
In Maths we will be using White Rose Maths to develop our mathematical skills and understanding. Within the first term, we will focus on place value, addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division. We will also start to use Times Tables Rockstars, this will help develop quick recall of multiplication and division facts.
This term we learn about the Stone Age through to the Iron Age and we link our Art to this too. In DT we will explore different types of structures, castles in particular, we will learn about the different features it holds before building our own. In Geography we will use a range of maps to explore different places in the UK and other places we may have visited. Our computing lessons will be based around coding, staying safe online and how to use spreadsheets, the children will have access to Purple
Mash where they can become familiar with the platform. As part of our R.E. lessons we will learn about the Hindu religion and become familiar with their celebrations. Our PSHE topic focuses on new beginnings, creating positive relationships and saying no to bullying.
