Class 2

Welcome to Class 2 2025/26. The Class Teacher is Miss Thompson and there are 27 pupils in this class. This class is supported by Mrs Carr.

Miss C Thompson

About me

Hello, I am Miss Thompson, I have worked at this school for many years – starting as a TA and re training to be a teacher. I am very excited to be moving from Y4 to Y3 this year, especially making fantastic memories. We have worked very hard to organise some exciting things in Y3 and I cannot wait to build strong foundations for Class 2’s CJS journey. I love going on adventures with my friends, family, my dog Lee and exploring different parts of the UK and the world. I love a challenge and to try anything creative from crochet to jewellery making!

About Class 2

Class 2 is all about settling into their new school and adapting to new teachers, routines and being around older children. Children in Class 2 always demonstrate resilience and kindness no matter what. I look forward to finding out each unique quality of the pupils in Class 2 and tailoring the curriculum around their needs.

English

In English we will be writing poetry about the things we didn’t do in the holidays! Also, looking at the book ‘The Twits’ and finishing with some Autumn poetry. After half term we will move onto ‘Stone Age Boy’ which is lovely to read after learning about the Stone Age in our History lessons.

Maths

In Maths we will be developing our numeracy skills using the White Rose scheme. We will focus on place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division. We will also start Times Tables Rockstars after the half term, which will help develop our quick recall of our multiplication and division facts.

Science

Our science topic this term is Animals including humans. We will be looking at what we need to survive and how our skeleton works. There are some fun investigations too.

PE

For the first half term the children will be taking part in Ball Skills and Fundamentals- improving their basic PE skills, then after the half term we move onto Dance and Gymnastics with a coach.

Other Subjects

History and Geography

We will be learning about the Stone Age through to the Iron age in History then after the half term we will start our topic ‘Exploring the UK’.

Music – We will be developing our singing techniques, singing like Vikings then we will be learning the songs for our Christmas show.

French – We will introduce the children to greetings, asking and saying their name, counting, colours.

RE – The children will learn about How do Hindu’s worship and how and why Advent is important to Christians.
