Miss C Thompson
Welcome to Class 4 2026/2027. The class will be taught by Miss Thompson and there will be 26 members. The class will be supported by Mrs Hannant from Monday – Wednesday and Mrs Gilray from Wednesday- Friday.
About Me
Hi, I’m Miss Thompson, and I am very excited to be returning to Year 4 this year. This will be my 11th year at Consett Junior School, having started my journey here as a Teaching Assistant before moving into teaching. I am now entering my 7th year as a class teacher.
I am passionate about creativity and enjoy supporting children to express themselves, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. I feel incredibly proud to be part of the fantastic team at Consett Junior School, where we work together to provide engaging experiences and help every child thrive in their own way.
Outside of school, I love spending time outdoors and making the most of every opportunity to explore new places, whether that’s walking in the countryside, visiting the coast, or heading off on a family adventure. I enjoy being active, discovering new things, and creating special memories…and of course creating anything I can out of wool along the way!
About Our Class
I can’t wait to get to know everyone in Class 3 and begin another exciting year together. We have lots of fantastic topics to explore, fun activities planned and some exciting trips that will help bring our learning to life.
It’s going to be a brilliant year!
English
In English, we use a range of exciting books, films and images to inspire our writing. Throughout the year, we will be exploring a variety of fantastic texts, including:
- Leo and the Gorgon’s Curse
- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
- The Explorer
- Beowulf
We hope these stories will spark the children’s imaginations and help them create some amazing pieces of writing.
A weekly spelling list will be sent home and tested every Friday. Children can also practise their spellings online using Spelling Shed.
Maths
In Maths, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme. Our lessons focus on developing fluency, reasoning and problem-solving skills, helping children to become confident mathematicians.
We will also spend time developing arithmetic skills and learning times tables up to 12 × 12, preparing the children for the Multiplication Tables Check later in the year.
