Hello I am Emma, I joined the Board of Governors at the school in May 2017. I have worked in the arts for the past 13 years in various organisations across the North East, including Arts Council England, North East and The Customs House, South Shields. I currently work for the University of Sunderland as Project Director for The Cultural Spring, a Creative People and Places programme for Sunderland and South Tyneside that aims to increase arts participation in communities that have previously received low levels of investment in the arts.
I wanted to join your Board of Governors as I am very interested in education and ensuring that all children receive the best possible start in life. I hope my skills and experience will contribute to the life of the school and the positive experiences that all pupils, teachers, staff and parents have.
I have worked on numerous arts projects, with artists and arts organisations in and outside of schools and I am an Arts Award adviser as Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver and Gold levels. I also have experience of fundraising for young people’s arts projects and I’ll be bringing all of these experiences into the role.
I am originally from Consett and have recently moved back to the area with my family after 12 years living in Newcastle.
