I have been Headteacher of Consett Junior school since 2017.
I am extremely proud to be Headteacher at Consett Junior School, I work alongside some wonderful staff, who work hard to give the children in our care the best start in life and to ensure that they are ready to move on Secondary school.
I began my teaching career way back in 1998, having trained in Wales – the world and Education has moved on significantly since then; however, as someone who is born and bread in the town, I was very proud to come ‘home’ in 2016 and give something back to the community.
Outside of school, I am very lucky, in that I have a gorgeous wife Katherine and three wonderful children, two of whom are in the school. The children certainly keep us on our toes, and weekends are spent out and about with the children or coaching rugby to 30 Under 9’s…
I am lucky to work with an amazing team of people, who all have the children in our care at the very centre of what we offer. Our decision making process at Consett is very much centred around what we offer our children, can add value to their lives and education.
As the Headteacher of Consett Junior school and with the support of our Governors and staff we aim to ensure this school is the very best it can be, to enable us to be the best school in Consett and the number one choice for parents in the town. We want to build upon the firm foundations of my predecessors and add value to what’s gone before and further develop the school.
I can assure you, having three young children myself, I understand the worries and concerns our families have in the world today, and I can reassure you that I am happy to speak with anyone in regards to the education of our children.
Working together is the best way we can give the children the best opportunities to succeed in life.
