I am originally from Liverpool but I have lived in Consett for over 15 years since marrying my husband.
I have two sons (who now attend the school) and an older step-son (who is travelling the world), and I am passionate that all children should have the chance to enjoy school and achieve whilst they are there. A good teacher and a good school can be a cornerstone in the life of a child in helping them see the world differently and experience things outside of their usual world. I can remember at least one teacher who has influenced my life in a really positive way.
As a governor, I see it as my role to hold the School to account, not just for results and achievement but to ensure that the School is providing as much as it possibly can to allow children to experience a rounded education. Ultimately, school should be a fun, safe place and children should enjoy attending school.
Outside of being a parent, I work full time and enjoy keeping fit (I love sports), supporting Liverpool FC and going on holiday.
