Miss H Clarey
About me
Hello, my name is Miss Clarey and I have worked at Consett Junior School since qualifying as a teacher in 2021. This year I am so exciting to be returning to year 5 where I taught in my first 2 years at CJS! I most recently taught in year 3 and year 4, which helped my teaching skills grow in many ways. Last year, I returned to school after having my little boy, Teddie who is now 1! I returned to school for 4 days so I can spend some time with him too – therefore on a Wednesday the class will be taken by Miss Howe and Mrs Hannant. Supporting us everyday in class 6, we have the lovely Mrs Wearmouth!
As part of my role in school, I am also the PE subject lead. Being so passionate about the subject, I like to make every lesson active so I hope you are ready for the frequent super movers, just dance and brain breaks!
English
Class 5 and Class 6 will work closely together on The Nowhere Emporium, Holes, Bloddon’s Adventure and we will also do a poetry topic based on the work of Karl Nova. We are excited to see what amazing pieces of work Class 6 create based on these inspiring texts.
Our weekly spelling test will be held on a Wednesday with Mrs Howe.
Maths
White Rose Maths is the scheme which will form the foundations of our daily maths lessons. Each day we will do a variety of fluency, reasoning and problem-solving questions. Children will also get the opportunity to secure their fluency knowledge by using White Rose Infinity, and challenge questions will be used to stretch our fast finishers.
