#WearPurpleForJIA

November 6, 2020 by dawnraine

Today children were asked to come to school dressed in purple (hair, face paint, clothes), or come in non-uniform and make a donation. As usual we are overwhelmed by the support and generosity of our families.

So far we have raised £188.57 for this charity and the outfits and effort from children and families in school today is fantastic.

I spoke to Matilda and her Mam this morning to so if she wanted to say a few words about her daily struggle with arthritis…Matilda told me…

“I have had arthritis since I was small, I remember having to go to the hospital as my hips were so sore and I couldn’t move them, quite often my ankles swell and my hips don’t move and I need to go to hospital.

I have to go to hospital a lot and get and injections and needles in my hands. I don’t like that sometimes I can’t walk and my ankles don’t work on uneven ground. I especially don’t like that I can’t do all the things that other children do, like PE, as it hurts sometimes”

I am sure you will agree this is a condition that significantly impacts on the lives of those who are suffering with it, Matilda comes to school smiling each day, regardless if she is in her wheelchair as the pain is too much, or if she able to walk. Each day is different but what an amazing brave girl Matilda is. Not to mention her supporting family, and friends she has grown through her school years with so far.

Thank you everyone for supporting a charity that does not get much publicity and also supporting Matilda in helping raise money for them.

To donate please do this through ParentPay under the option #WearPurpleForJIA
