This year, World Book Day will look a lot different than normal but let’s not let Lockdown ruin our fun.
The theme for this year will be ‘Share a Story’.
Our fancy-dress theme will be to wear pyjamas/onesie for a cosy day of creating and sharing stories.
The day will be split into 4 sessions. Session 1 and session 4 will be a Teams meeting with your class. You will be provided with the tasks for session 2 and session 3 on Purple Mash. Your teacher will let you know the exact times of your two Teams meetings and this information will go out on the app.
1st session – Teams call
This session is a chance for you to get comfy, relax and enjoy an exciting story read to you by your teacher. To make your experience even better, bring a mug of hot chocolate and your favourite snack to have while you enjoy the story.
2nd session – This session will be your opportunity to let your imagination run wild as you create your own piece of writing based on a video. You will receive links to the video and tasks on Purple Mash on World Book Day.
3rd session – This is a chance for you to be as creative as you like by transforming a potato, shoe box, jar, wooden spoon or any object of your choice into your favourite book character or favourite book. You should think about what you would like to create before World Book Day so you can gather any resources you need ready for the day. Take plenty of photos of your creations and email them to your year group email.
If you google ‘book character potato’ or the object you have chosen to use, lots of ideas will come up for you to help with inspiration.
4th session – It will be time to show off the fabulous work you have completed through the day. Each class will have a Teams meeting and you will have 2 minutes to talk us through what you have done and show off any of your amazing creations. You could choose to read some of your work form session 2 or impress everybody with your creation from session 3 – it is completely up to you
