Year 5 – End of Year Trip

April 30, 2021 by dawnraine

On Tuesday 15th June, children in year 5 will be going on a school trip to Adventure Sunderland. To allow us to get the most out of the day we are asking that all children arrive at school no later than 8:15 and report straight to their class for registration (children at breakfast club must go to class at 8.15 a.m.). The bus will be leaving school at 8:30 a.m. prompt and will return between approximately 3:50 and 4.00 pm depending on traffic.

The day will be split in two with children spending half their time on the beach doing activities with their class teacher and the other half carrying out water-based activities with Adventure Sunderland. Depending on the weather, children will carry out either:

Kayaking (solo and tandem)
Paddle boarding (small and ‘group’ board available)
Canoes (2 person)
Bellboats (giant x12 person canoe)
Pier Jumping

As the children will be getting wet during their activities with Adventure Sunderland, it is essential that they bring with them a spare pair of trainers (that they don’t mind getting wet), their bathing suit and a towel.

CHILDREN WILL BE GIVEN CONSENT/MEDICAL FORMS ON FRIDAY 30TH APRIL – THESE MUST BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL BY FRIDAY 7TH MAY.

We will be out of school all day so please can children bring a packed lunch and an extra water bottle. Children can wear non-uniform for this trip but please be mindful of the weather on the day and provide your child with a cap and sun-cream if required.  As they are on the beach for half of the day we also recommend the children have an additional set of dry clothes.

Please complete this Microsoft form by Monday 14th June ONLY IF you need to order a school packed lunch for the day. Otherwise children will need a packed lunch.

The cost of the trip will be paid from the school budget, but we do request a contribution towards the cost of the transport. A payment item has been set up on ParentPay called ‘Year 5 Trip Contribution’.
