Please see an updated parent/carer protocol below for the wider opening of school from Monday 15th June, four Year 6 pupils. Please note, this protocol will be updated, when necessary, following the review of the weekly risk assessments.
We are pleased to welcome some our Year 6 pupils back to school on Monday 15th June – by now you will have received a call to ascertain whether your child is returning; the information below is how it will all work in reality.
The information below is tightly linked to risk assessments and is aimed to support all staff and children in school and minimise the risk as far as possible. We recognise some of these measures are very different to how we normally work but we need to ensure everyone in school is safe.
● Children will be taught in groups of 8.
● All classrooms have been measured to support social distancing
● Children will be allocated to a group and this group (pod) will remain together at all times across the day, they will not mix with anyone else in school and will, where possible, have the same teacher at all times. The groups have been carefully sorted, where possible the children will be with one of their friends.
● Children must not wear school uniform but do need to wear clean washed clothes daily as the virus is known to survive on clothing.
● Please adhere to strict social distancing at drop off points and only arrive at school in time to drop off and collect your child. The main school car park will be locked – please do not drive down this road.
● The office is closed to visitors and parents. No one can come into school unless by a prior arranged appointment and social distancing rules will be followed.
● Information or concerns can be passed through the office via telephone or email.
● Please ensure you are aware of your child’s pick up and drop off times and stick rigidly to these times to help the day run smoothly – The children will be met at the school gate by a member of staff – they will then direct them straight onto the yard, to be met by their teacher. (You will receive a text message to say which teacher they have.)
● Your child’s pod adult will also bring them to you at the gate at the end of the day. We ask you stand at an appropriate place for collection, following social distance guidelines. Please do not block the school gate.
● Children should not bring anything from home into school except for a sun hat on days where it is forecast to be warm and sunny. We will provide water bottles daily. Please ensure that you have put sun cream on your child at the start of the school day as they will be going outside wherever possible and this will protect them.
● All children in school MUST access the school packed lunch provision – this is to help mitigate the spread of the virus. We hope to be able to provide hot food, starting 22nd June – further details to follow.
● School will look different due to the measures in place e.g. marked playgrounds, distanced desks etc.
● All children will be given their own bank of resources to include all stationery etc. they will need.
● Staff may wear PPE to administer first aid or intimate care.
● For safety and timing purposes at the end of the school day, staff will not be able to liaise with you about your child that day. If there is anything that needs to be communicated to you directly, you will receive a telephone call.
● School will close at 1:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon to support remote learning and deep cleaning. Key worker care will continue to operate as normal on these afternoons.
● We will continue to set home learning for those children not in school.
● If you choose to send your child into school, we ask that you continue to maintain Government social distancing guidance at home to ensure everyone is protected within their pod. YOU MUST MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES. If social distancing is not maintained outside of school, we may withdraw an offer of a place for your child due to the increased risks to other children and staff.
