May 17, 2021 by dawnraine

Message below on behalf of Consett Infant School.

Please relay all messages/queries to the Infant School.

“We are looking into the feasibility of re-starting after school childcare provision in September 2021 and would like parents to complete the following survey by Monday 24th May. This will provide us with information about potential usage, numbers of children needing to access the service and timings. Thank you”

Year 3 Trip to South Shields – Things Children Will Need

May 17, 2021 by dawnraine

Please see information below (letter attached below if families wish to print it off)

Dear Parents/carers,

As you know, Wednesday 9th June, the first Wednesday after we return from the half term break is our school trip (weather depending!). We thought that we would make a list of things the children will need so you can sort things out over the half term.

In the morning, we are likely to go to the park to explore and play games. If the little train is running, those children who would like to ride it can (around £1/2). We will eat lunch in the park so if it is sunny we can sit in the shade.
After lunch we will head to the beach, get an ice cream then go and play on the sand, explore the rock pools (if the tide is out), look for fossils and paddle in the sea before returning home.

The things therefore that we will require your child to bring are as follows:

• A bag to carry their things (a rucksack type of bag will be best so it’s easier to carry when walking).
• At least 2 drinks- 1 for packed lunch and water for the day. Two drink cartons won’t be enough so please ensure you send a water bottle as one of their drinks.
• A packed lunch (unless ordered from school). If you have ordered one from school, your child will be given it on the day and will be responsible for it (please don’t include sweets and chocolate).
• Sun cream (please apply before we go, this will be for a top up after lunch if required).
• A hat (named) and if desired sunglasses (the children will be responsible for these at all times).
• A towel in a carrier bag.
• Swimming costume/change of clothes for paddle in the sea. There aren’t any changing facilities at South Shield’s so the children will have to help one another by holding a towel around them to get changed!
• Named bucket and spade (this is optional as your child will have to carry it. We will bring a selection of toys to play with)
• No more than £5 spending money – coins preferred (your child will be responsible for their own money, we will not be looking after it)

As mentioned at the beginning of the letter this trip is weather dependent. However as we haven’t booked anything at South Shields we are flexible for re-arranging another date if Wednesday 9th June is a rainy day- no one wants to visit the seaside on a rainy day!
We are really excited for our trip and being able to take the Year 3’s to the seaside! It will be a wonderful day.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Year 3 team

Consett Incinerator

May 17, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear families,
You may have seen in the local area, local news and on social media a debate regarding the planning application of a waste recycling site. We have had a number of parents contact us in relation to this possible development at Templetown. I have been asked to share the attached poster from our concerned parents and would urge you to read the information that it provides.
Kind regards
Mr. Dixon

Year 4 morning at Blackhill Park

May 14, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear families of Year 4

We are planning to take the year 4 children to the park next half term to take part in a carousel of activities linked to both Science and Art topics.

As we are relying on good weather we are unsure as yet which date this will be. We will however send out a text to let you know closer to the time (this might even be the day before we go).

Children won’t need anything other than a water bottle, sun cream on and a hat if its particularly warm. Any medication, inhalers etc will be taken with us by a member of staff.

It is likely to be a morning activity and children will be back at school for lunch.

Thank you for your support
The year 4 team

Ordering Uniform – September 2021

May 13, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear families

It may seem to early to think about right now, but if you want your child’s September uniform ordered and delivered to school ready for September, I would recommend you place your order before the end of June. Uniform providers are very busy in the lead up to the new year and your delivery will not be guaranteed if you leave it too late.

Your orders can be placed online at https://totstoteams.com/consett-junior-school

IF YOU ORDER ADULT SIZES FROM THIS WEBSITE THEY CANNOT BE RETURNED OR REFUNDED. ONLY SIZES UP TO XS CAN BE RETURNED OR REFUNDED.

You can opt for school or home delivery but please do not choose school deliver if ordering in July. Jumpers, polo’s and t-shirts will arrive with our logo embroidered. You do not have to use our uniform provider, there are many high street stores who offer the same colours and be more suited to your budget.

Here is also a link to our uniform requirements https://www.consett-jun.durham.sch.uk/parents/our-school-uniform/

We are planning for a Year 6 summer school in August. Dates are to be confirmed and we will share these with parents as soon as we can once we have confirmed external bookings. Remote Learning for Children Isolating

May 10, 2021 by dawnraine

Hi everyone in Class 1 and those in Class 2 who are isolating too!

Here we are again, back on Purple Mash, Times Tables Rockstars and Myon!

Work:
Like last time we will be setting work for Numeracy (times tables and work) and Literacy then some foundation subjects for the afternoon.

Reading:
You can go on myon to access books, you can also do your quizzes there too. Your login is just the same as accelerated reader. (If you go on here on 3 different days, you will get a dip in the box back at school)

Times Tables Rockstars
I’m going to set your tables for x3 as that is what we focused on last week. I’m also going to set a tournemnt for girls vs boys. Who will win? The winners will get a dip in the box. Also the person who has been on the most will too (I can check!)

PE:
On your PE days head across to Joe Wicks as his workouts are saved online or why not try some cosmic yoga? You could set up a little obstacle course and do that or see how many star jumps you can do in 1 minute, or how many you can do without stopping! Email these in and let us know!
I’m going to try and upload our song and the words so you can practise the dance too (hopefully it will work!)

Teams:
We will have a teams meeting on Wednesday at 1.30pm. Wear something yellow and hopefully the sun will come out for us! We will have a catch up and I will read you some more of the magic faraway tree too. If you have any questions you can ask me then or you can also email them to me at http://year3@cjschool.co.uk

House points
Remember to count up your house points too:
Star = 1
Thumbs up = 2
Smiley = 3
Trophy = 5

See you on Wednesday afternoon, don’t forget to wear something yellow

Hand Picked Sweet Bags for Sale – Year 6

May 6, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear year 6 families,

We have a keen and growing entrepreneur in year 6 and he is wanting to sell bags of sweets to the students to ‘test the market’ every Friday. He will roll this out in year 6 initially. If children would like to purchase a hand picked sweet bag can they bring £1 to school tomorrow. These sweets are to be brought home at the end of the day. His parents have supported him with this and images are below.

CJS Team (on behalf of our young entrepreneur)
