Reporting Absences

September 27, 2019 by dawnraine

If your child is absent from school for any reason you MUST inform the school. There are several children absent today and no reason has been provided. There are several ways you can inform the school office, as it is known that sometimes getting through on the on busy mornings can be difficult.

You can ring 01207 504431, you can text 07537436638 or you can email consettjunior@durhamlearning.net

If your child is poorly and their illness means they need to be absent for 48 hours, you do not need to ring on the second day of absence, however, if this goes into the third day then you must make contact with school.

If your child’s absences become frequent or pattern based, i.e. off regularly on Mondays or Fridays, then action will be taken to prove your child is off unwell. This may mean letters are requested from their GP, or a home visit from the school or attendance team officer.

Further concern will result in a referral to the Local Authority, where warnings, interviews or fines are issued. If you do not inform the office regarding absence, or we have reason to believe the reason provided for your child’s absence is not correct, we will refer. There have been occasions where children have told us they have been on holiday, yet families claim they have been unwell.

It is against the law to keep your child off school if they are well enough to be in.

Photograph Ordering

September 23, 2019 by dawnraine

I have just met with Mark Wilkinson and approved the photo proofs and ordering options from last weeks session. He will print out all the proofs (and duplicates for families who receive information to their homes), and hopes to have them to me by tomorrow (24th September).

Ordering process detailed on your proof is as follows:

Option 1: 1x 10×8 print; 2 x 8×6 prints and 4 x 6×4 prints = £20

Option 2 : Digital download with fee licence for unlimited printing = £20

Add a Christmas Tree Decoration to any option for an additional £3.50 each, just remember to write the quantity you require, if you only ‘tick’ the box you will only get one.

There are also special canvas offers and reprints available, just ask in Mark’s shop for these.

The final day to return your order with payment to school is Friday 25th October. Any late orders cannot be processed with me, but can be ordered from Mark.

There is no obligation to buy your photographs.

After School Halloween Disco

September 20, 2019 by dawnraine

Tickets are £3 each, which includes a party bag. Tickets go on sale on Monday 7th October, purchased from Mrs Raine.

The disco starts at 3.30 p.m. and finishes at 5.00 p.m. Children will leave the school premises in the usual way (play yard), so please ensure your child knows where you will be waiting for them as it will be dark.

Children have several options for wearing Halloween costumes during the day:

1) Children can come to school in their uniform but bring their costumes to change into at 3.30 p.m.

2) Children can come to school wearing their Halloween costumes. If children have masks/hoods they must NOT wear these during the school day so that we can identify who the children are, which is very important at break times.

3) Children can come to school in their uniform and not stay for the disco.

4) Children can come to school in their costume for £1 and not stay for the disco but will still be given a party bag as part of their £1 charge.

If children lose their ticket, they do not need to worry as Mrs Raine keeps a register of ticket sales.

Used Uniform Sales

September 18, 2019 by dawnraine

We have been in contact with Willowburn Hospice Chairty Shop, Consett, to enquire if we could set up a used school uniform rail in their store.

They have cleared this with their area manager and they are more than happy to do this. We have several bags of used uniform that has either been in lost property from last year and years prior to that, or has been donated to us from parents/carers who no longer require them.

We have requested that all individual items are capped at £1 to make this a reasonable cost to families. This should be on display by the end of this week. All proceeds are to go directly to Willowburn.

Our uniform provider is Tots to Teams, so if you would prefer new items then please use them online. If you have old uniform you can either donate to us or send into our chosen charity shop.
