Leaver Hoodies 2021

February 3, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear Families

It is around this time that we would look to place orders for Year 6 leavers hoodies. I have been working with a few companies to establish the best price, quality, design and colour and we have managed to find a company to provide them for us. Usually there are many companies who can help but given the current pandemic, there are many suppliers who have closed or cannot source the sweatshirts.

If you would like to order a 2021 leavers hoody for your child please read and consider the following information before placing your order via the forms link below before Friday 26th February.

  • There are several colour choices available (see pdf attachment) but PINK and YELLOW are not available. You will be asked for your first and second choice of colour should there be supply issues.
  • The size you state will be ordered so please ensure you measure accurately.
  • The hoody must be paid for using ParentPay before it can be issued, if you place an order you are then obliged to pay. All hoodies must be paid for by Friday 26th March.
  • There are no late orders – the company will not allow for this. So if you do not order using forms by Friday 26th February, there is no alternative or late order process.
  • Hoodies up to chest size 34 (13 years) are £16.50 and Hoodies above this size are £18.50.
  • If you have paid money for Ford Castle and would like to use part of this to pay – there will be an option on the order form.
  • This years hoody will only show your child’s first name and initial (GDPR) on the back – not full names.

Below are links to the colours, size and the design of the hoodie – you must use these to form your order.

ParentPay Balances

January 29, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear families

Please could we kindly ask again that your ParentPay balances are also updated and any arrears paid. On checking today there are still 40 people who have arrears on either their School Meals or Breakfast Club payment items. Most of these arrears are from 2020 and we have notified you via email and text already. We would appreciate arrears are cleared to prevent them being forwarded to the appropriate team at DCC.

Kind regards

Children’s Mental Health Week

January 29, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week. You might find instead of your child’s usual subjects they have work that focus’s on well-being, journaling, kindness, happiness and expressing yourself which is the theme for this year.

Being in the middle of a pandemic and a lock down is taking its toll, but together we can get through this. The children are producing fantastic work and their beaming smiles in our teams meetings and those of the children who are in school show us how resilient our children can be. However, there will be times when we all have a wobble. This is normal.

Embrace this week; join in with the activities yourself if you like. Let your child express themselves in whichever way they like.

We’d love to see any photos of the things your child has produced or of your child ‘expressing themselves’.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs McMahon

Weekly Telephone Calls

January 28, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear families

As you know staff have been making contact with families each week to talk with parents/carers and the children. These calls have been very positive and supportive for most families, however, now that most staff have also established Teams meetings, with more and more children participating, these weekly calls are not necessary for all families.

Most classes are going to do two Teams meetings each week, whilst we would like all children to participate in their class meeting, we are also understanding of the fact this may not be possible. Therefore, weekly calls home will only be made if children have NOT accessed a Teams meeting that week. This is to ensure that you are all alright and have no issues accessing work. Some teachers have said they may do weekly calls regardless, but they will inform you of that themselves.

As previously informed, we do have a duty of care to ensure all of our children are well and coping during the lock down, so if we cannot make contact with you and the children, we will need to do a home visit.

If you have a missed call, please email the school a convenient time for staff to speak with you.

Please encourage the children to take responsibility of their own Office 365 accounts, this means checking and sending emails and ensuring they know when their next Teams meeting will be. Below are some useful websites to help you access Teams.

Testing for primary, school-based nursery and maintained nursery school staff

January 27, 2021 by dawnraine

All primary school staff have been asked to take part in weekly Lateral Flow Tests – these are aimed at identifying asymptomatic people, trying to isolate them from passing on the virus.

Obviously if we have any positive tests it would mean potential bubbles closing – if this were the case, we would try and inform you as soon as possible.

Testing is not mandatory for staff, although participation in testing is strongly encouraged. Staff who have opted to take the tests will do so at two set times each week.

As always we will keep you informed.

Kind regards,

CJS

Photograph Challenge

January 26, 2021 by dawnraine

This week we are holding a photography competition for our children learning both at home and at school. The photo should be based on the theme ‘making memories’ and needs to be sent to your child’s year group email address by Monday 1st February. The winner from each class will receive a special prize and children who come second and third will receive house points. I hope you are all keeping count of your house points!

Good Luck!
