Sports Day

June 11, 2021 by dawnraine

On Wednesday the 7th of July we are going to have our sports day-albeit a little different this year. This event will be carried out in year group bubbles with children competing in their school competition houses.

Years 3 & 4 will be taking part in a range of events in the morning and year 5 & 6 will be having their sports day in the afternoon. For this event we are asking children to wear a t-shirt in their house colour (class teachers will be reminding children of their house) and sports wear on the bottom.

Aynsley: blue.

Dale: yellow.

Edgar: green.

Unsworth: red.

Also, please be mindful of the weather on this day as a hat and sun cream may be required, as well as an extra water bottle.

Unfortunately, parents will not be able to spectate this year, but our school photographer will be in taking lots of pictures which we will convert into a fun video for you to view on our School’s YouTube channel.

Good luck to everyone and may the best house win…

‘Veg Power’

June 9, 2021 by dawnraine

Our cook has requested that the children of our school take part in a campaign called ‘Veg Power’ which starts after half term, the first vegetable is tomatoes.

She will be doing a load of tasters each week around the chosen vegetable and also running a competition each week for the best ‘Vegetable Creation’. This can be anything at all, a model, picture, painting, food item as long as it is about the vegetable of the week. Children are requested to bring their best vegetable creations into school by each Friday for the chance to win a small prize (stationary or similar NOT sweets) and the winner of each week will go into the main draw for overall winner at the end of the campaign.

Children must keep checking the school kitchen hatch for more details.

The ‘power packs’ were sent home yesterday so families can read what it entails. We will keep the gallery below updated every week to feature all the entries…

Good luck

Cleopatra…On Teams in Year 3…no way!

June 9, 2021 by dawnraine

Now we’ve heard people saying that Teams meetings are getting a bit old and boring but have you ever had a call from someone over 3000 years old……. well Year 3 have! We were surprised with a call from Cleopatra today 😲(and she wasn’t as old and wrinkly as we’d expected).

We were transfixed by her ancient tales and terrors and learnt many interesting facts. Did you know that the Egyptians invented toothpaste? Except it wasn’t minty flavour… it was made from Ox hooves and ground egg shells *🤢YUCK*

We bid Cleopatra a fond farewell and are looking forward to examining our mummified tomatoes in 10 days time!

It’s Competition Time!

June 8, 2021 by dawnraine

To all our families…

As you may remember, our outdoor library was burnt down last year. Thanks to all the amazing fundraising, lead by one of our parents (Kyla).

With the money raised and a substantial amount added from our budget we have gone bigger and better. At the moment we have a company furnishing the in side of it and this will be completed in a few weeks. As this touched the hearts of so many in our community, we thought it only fair to allow our children to name it…

Please can you ask your child if they would like to enter this competition to name our outdoor library/intervention/quiet space and for their entry to be emailed to Mrs Raine before Friday 25th June. All names will be shared with parents who will be asked to vote for the best one.

consettjunior@durhamlearning.net

They will be given a small reward and will also feature in a photograph which will be published in our local paper. We hope this will all be done by the end of term.

Good Luck!

EHCP Feedback Process for Parents/Carers

May 27, 2021 by dawnraine

Message below shared on behalf of the SEND advisory team:

Dear Families

The Local Area are looking at the opportunities parents and young people have to give feedback when going through the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. Currently there is an online form but this isn’t usually filled in, it used to be a paper survey but that also rarely got filled in and returned.

We are looking for some parents/carers of a child with an EHCP to be involved in a Zoom session to tell us their views. This is to get better knowledge/feedback which will improve the systems for parents and young people, creating a better experience when going through the EHCP process.

The dates for the zoom sessions are as follows:
Monday 14th June – 1pm
Thursday 17th June – 7pm
Friday 18th June – 10am

Families are asked to contact MCT as outlined in the poster below to be involved
