Message from Consett Academy – Transition

May 13, 2021 by dawnraine

This information is also being posted to parents/carers:

Transition Packs

We apologise to students and parents as these have been delayed at the printers. We hope to have them sent out soon as possible as they will provide students and parents with key information around induction events and uniform.

Induction Day

We are holding a virtual induction evening that will be held on 29th June. There will be a link in the transition pack for parents to use to access the event. We will also be sharing details of this evening and other transition information on our Facebook page. Do search for us on Facebook.

Summer School

We are planning for a Year 6 summer school in August. Dates are to be confirmed and we will share these with parents as soon as we can once we have confirmed external bookings. This will be open to all of our Y6 students and we are looking forward to welcoming them to the Academy for an interactive week of team-building and orientation activities.

Remote Learning for Children Isolating

May 10, 2021 by dawnraine

Hi everyone in Class 1 and those in Class 2 who are isolating too!

Here we are again, back on Purple Mash, Times Tables Rockstars and Myon!

Work:
Like last time we will be setting work for Numeracy (times tables and work) and Literacy then some foundation subjects for the afternoon.

Reading:
You can go on myon to access books, you can also do your quizzes there too. Your login is just the same as accelerated reader. (If you go on here on 3 different days, you will get a dip in the box back at school)

Times Tables Rockstars
I’m going to set your tables for x3 as that is what we focused on last week. I’m also going to set a tournemnt for girls vs boys. Who will win? The winners will get a dip in the box. Also the person who has been on the most will too (I can check!)

PE:
On your PE days head across to Joe Wicks as his workouts are saved online or why not try some cosmic yoga? You could set up a little obstacle course and do that or see how many star jumps you can do in 1 minute, or how many you can do without stopping! Email these in and let us know!
I’m going to try and upload our song and the words so you can practise the dance too (hopefully it will work!)

Teams:
We will have a teams meeting on Wednesday at 1.30pm. Wear something yellow and hopefully the sun will come out for us! We will have a catch up and I will read you some more of the magic faraway tree too. If you have any questions you can ask me then or you can also email them to me at http://year3@cjschool.co.uk

House points
Remember to count up your house points too:
Star = 1
Thumbs up = 2
Smiley = 3
Trophy = 5

See you on Wednesday afternoon, don’t forget to wear something yellow

Coronavirus Advice – Important Information

May 8, 2021 by pauldixon

Today, Saturday 8th May 2021, we have been notified of a confirmed case of Covid-19 within our setting.

We have worked with Public Health England to complete a substantial risk assessment and contacts we believe hit the ‘definitions’ have been contacted and requested to isolate for 10 days.  If you have NOT received a school text or have NOT been contacted directly this does not apply to you, however, should continue to be vigilant and follow Covid guidance. Below are letters for all families to read. Please choose the one appropriate to your child.

Letter for families/adults/children of close contacts of Covid 19 at Consett Junior School – Year 3

Letter for direct and proximity contacts – Year 3

General letter to all school students / parents / guardians and staff

General Advice for those not in direct contact

For the children having to self-isolate, work will be set via Purple Mash, staff will be available to be contacted via the year group email. If you have any issues with passwords or access, please contact the main school office.

If a member of your household bubble has symptoms of Covid and you book a Covid test – the whole household bubble must isolate until the results are returned.

Hand Picked Sweet Bags for Sale – Year 6

May 6, 2021 by dawnraine

Dear year 6 families,

We have a keen and growing entrepreneur in year 6 and he is wanting to sell bags of sweets to the students to ‘test the market’ every Friday. He will roll this out in year 6 initially. If children would like to purchase a hand picked sweet bag can they bring £1 to school tomorrow. These sweets are to be brought home at the end of the day. His parents have supported him with this and images are below.

April Attendance Reward

April 30, 2021 by dawnraine

The whole school attendance for April was 95.39%. Our floor target for the whole school is above 96%, although this is only slightly below our target we are very concerned about some individual attendance of pupils in school. We appreciate this has been a year like no other, and it has been a very difficult one to focus on attendance. But now school has been open in full for a while we are noticing trends in some children’s absences. This could mean we are noticing that they are absent on certain days more regularly or they are absent frequently with the same reasons provided.

We will post attendance summaries and information home to parents where we have found there is cause for concern, following this, meeting will be set up to try and support families in improving their children’s attendance.

As children have missed so much time in school, we can only support them in ‘catching up’ if they attend full time. We have several interventions groups per class to support the children’s education.
Well done to Year 4 for the highest year group attendance for April – 96.74%, their treat is a giant cookie/muffin on Friday 7th May. Well done to class 4 (Miss Thompson and Mrs Taylor) for the highest-class attendance (96.92%) their treat is a non-uniform day on Friday 7th May.
